The staff at The Learning Place Preschool strive to help our students become successful learners by utilizing a variety of learning methods. We want our students to love learning and to want to come to school each day.
Mandie Harris, our Nursery Teacher, has taken on the role of teaching our youngest students. Miss Mandie is assisted by Jessica Smith, Kathie Silberstein (Mon/Wed), and Jacque Ites (Tue/Thur). Together, these teachers provide loving, nurturing care to our one-year-old class while introducing these students to the alphabet, phonetic sounds, colors, shapes, and number concepts.
Pam Tucker and Jill Albro teach our three-year-old students. Miss Pam, assisted by Beth Thames, teaches our two-day students; Miss Jill, assisted by Emily Lloyd, teaches our four-day students. In the Intermediate classes, our teachers incorporate learning the basics of identifying letters and their sounds, number concepts, pencil positions, and writing through both formal and imaginative play.
Sheri Masters and Pam Tucker teach our Junior Classes. Miss Pam, assisted by Beth Thames, teaches our Monday/Wednesday class. Miss Sheri, assisted by Rachel Jones, teaches the 4-day and Tuesday/Thursday classes. Through both play and more formal learning opportunities, these two-year-old teachers will help reinforce socio-emotional development and gross motor development as well as providing an introduction to the alphabet, phonetic sounds, shapes, colors, and number concepts.
Kathy Burnett, Natalie Wroten, and Emily Parham with the assistance of Gwyn Diller teach our Pre-Kindergarten students. All of these teachers bring a vast array of knowledge and teaching experience with Miss Kathy and Miss Emily holding a teaching certificate. Miss Emily teaches the Tuesday/Thursday Pre-K class; Miss Kathy and Miss Gwyn teach one of the 4-day Pre-K classes; Miss Natalie teaches the second 4-day Pre-K class. All three of these classes are intended to help prepare our students for Kindergarten with an increased mastery in the areas of letter and number recognition, phonics, writing skills, social skills, art, music, science, and the Bible.
